While there is no perfect answer on how to try to combat thinning hair, there are some suggestions I can offer that may help.
First of all, keep in mind that it is normal to lose between 40-150 hairs per day (or more for some people). Also, remember that sometimes thinning hair may be caused by medical issues such as thyroid disorders. Medicine can also have side effects on the hair so be sure to ask your doctor if there are any side effects to the medications that you are on. You can also do an internet search by typing in the name of your medicine and “effects on the hair” or “[medication name] and thinning hair”. Please, always schedule an appointment with your doctor if you are noticing unusual thinning in your hair to rule out any medical issues. They will be able to run blood tests to check your levels and ensure that you are healthy. Continue reading →

Here’s a fun little fact! Have you ever seen the little symbol on some of your products that looks like a jar with the lid half way opened? This is called the POA symbol or Period-after-opening symbol. The numbers inside the symbol represent the amount of months the product is good for after you open it. So, even if you have product left in the bottle or tube it is best to replace it. In some cases the product ingredients may have lost their strength. In other cases the product may be prone to bacterial growth (which happens a lot with makeup!).
